About

Biotech grad by education, science writer by passion, graphic designer by chance, and artist by design. With a pen in hand, making marks to create art or follow the trail of words in an attempt to make sense of the world around and the chaos within.

After her MS in Biotechnology from Australia, Suneha worked in a research institute in Mumbai, before moving to Bangalore where she worked at Current Conservation magazine and learnt that science and art can go hand in hand. A lab-rat fiddling with test tubes and pipettes until this point, she found her calling in science communication – art, design and the written word.

Along with her job at the magazine, she worked as a freelance science writer and editorial designer. Amidst the perpetual state of busyness, she started stippling (the art of putting one dot after another) as a way to slow down. Gradually, dots transitioned into lines but the tools remained the same – pen, bottle of ink and reams of paper.

Most of Suneha’s art is monochrome because it helps her appreciate the detailed features of her subjects rather than being distracted by the vibrant colours they might exhibit. Her artwork has been a part of the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators exhibit in the US. She continues to use her science background and minimalist art tools to observe, learn and appreciate the complexities of the natural world.
